At Kiaat Private Hospital, we believe that true care extends far beyond our hospital walls. Healing isn’t just about the physical care we provide in our wards, it’s about nurturing the heart of the community we serve.
This Mandela Day, under the global theme “It’s in your hands to combat poverty and inequality,” our team dedicated their 67 minutes to taking action where it matters most. By joining hands with Child Welfare Nelspruit, we set out to support those on the front lines of caring for vulnerable children.
Celebrating the Heart of Foster Care
Together with Child Welfare Nelspruit, we gathered at the Alliance Church in Matsafeni, Mbombela, to celebrate and honour local foster caregivers. These remarkable individuals open their hearts and homes every day to protect vulnerable children in our community.
To help ease their daily burdens and promote long-term well-being, the initiative focused on key pillars of holistic care:
- Mental Wellness Conversations: Creating an open, supportive space to prioritise caregiver emotional and mental health.
- Heartfelt Appreciation: Recognising the profound dedication and selflessness of foster families.
- Practical Relief: Handing over care packages and food buckets to directly assist families in meeting everyday needs.
“Even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.”
Combating Inequality Through Community Solidarity
Addressing poverty and inequality starts in our own neighbourhoods. When we stand together in service, we build stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for everyone. As Nelson Mandela famously reminded us:
“It is in your hands to make of our world a better place for all.”
At Kiaat Private Hospital, we remain dedicated to bringing hope, compassion, and meaningful change to the heart of our community—on Mandela Day and every day.
